Ireland
We flew into Dublin and then took the Go Bus to Galway. Galway is where my husband's Aunt and cousin's live. However, that is not where we set up our home base. My father-in-law found an amazing vacation home in Clonbur, Co. Galway Ireland. The name of the house was the Blue Charm Cottage and it sure was charming. We had a beautiful view of a lake along with pier access. The surrounding countryside consisted of gentle rolling green hills and stone fences. It was exactly what you would imagine Ireland to be like. From Blue Charm we took day trips around the East coast of Ireland. We of course went to the Cliffs of Moher, a must see stop. We also traveled north to the adorable town of Westport, Co Mayo Ireland. Another day was devoted to getting to and exploring the Aran Islands. It was one of our overcast rainy days but it was still well worth it. It's were I'd recommend getting authentic Irish wool sweaters. The small shops near the entrance of Dun Aengus fortress were full of them. The shop keepers were actually knitting hats and scarfs between helping customers. Time was of course spent in Galway with the family. Galway was a ton of fun. We hung out with the cousins and explored the local night life. Then one of our last stops before going back over to Dublin was the Kylemore Abby. What a beautiful castle and grounds, another must see. Our last day was spent in Dublin. Visiting Trinity College, the Book of Kells, and of course St. James Gate. Never in my life did I think I'd enjoy a pint of Guinness, but over there I couldn't get enough of them. I'm pretty sure I had at least one every day of the trip. To me the taste is drastically different from Guinness here in the States. My husband told me I'd like Guinness better in Ireland, and of course I was skeptical, but he was right. He loves when I say that. :) So if you're not a fan of Guinness here I definitely recommend you give it a try over there. Check out more images of Ireland by clicking on the this link: Ireland Enjoy!
