Breakfast in San Fran

My husband and I took a "baby-moon" last week to California (we're expecting in July).  We spent most our time with our cousin's in Sacramento.  However, we did also take advantage of the fact that we were so close to San Francisco.  So we planned an over night in the city by the bay and came across this breakfast gem.  We had this delicious breakfast at Hollywood Cafe near the San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf.

It's a small cafe with maybe ten tables tightly arranged inside and five outside on a sidewalk patio.  The sour dough bread is to die for especially when you add the fresh preserves on it.  My husband, who tries to stay way from carbs, couldn't resist himself and happy ate all four pieces.  The portions are very generous at a reasonable price.  As you can see to the right the hash brown is as big if not bigger than the omelette I ordered.  Even though both were delicious I could only eat half.  The real stand out of this meal for me was their fruit bowl.  As you can see in the back of the right image we didn't waste anytime diving into it.  You're really only seeing about a quarter of what we were given.    The fresh, juicy fruit was piled high and over flowing from the bowl.  The perfect way to start a breakfast off.

Another dish that deserves a quick mention is the Iron Skillet Chocolate Cookie at Butterfly.  Words can't describe how delicious this dessert was. We took our first bit into it and never looked back.  The cookie was so fresh, warm, soft and filled with gooey chocolate that I forgot all about taking a picture of it.  It went right to my belly along with the mint chocolate chip ice cream that was scooped on top.  It's a must have if your near Pier 33 in San Francisco.

Enjoy and Happy Travels!
