The World of Photography Contests
This past week I entered a few photography contests, which is uncharted territory for me. I actually find it quite nerve racking. I find myself caught up in an internal struggle of contradiction; on one hand I want to share my images with others, while I on the flip side I hold on tightly to what I've created because they are so much a part of me that I don't want them to be judged. I'm working to developing a thicker skin for later, which is why in the end I decided to enter 3 photography contests, sponsored by organizations I respect in the area of photography. The image above can be found in my Colorado gallery. I submitted it to the PDN Great Outdoors Contest. I mean what is greater than being on top of a mountain at the level of the clouds, right? I'm sure there's plenty actually, but to me this is what I envision when I hear "great outdoors". The other two contest I entered are the ASMP New York Image 12 and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshop Portrait Contest. Any of these three I would highly recommend. Now I think at this point the deadlines for each is very close to expiring. However keep an eye on each organization for future contests, I know I will.
Cheers!
